How to Set Up an AirTag Cat Collar

Pawture Personalized Corduroy AirTag Cat Collar — Berry studio product photo (AirTag not included)

An AirTag cat collar can add a familiar Find My layer to everyday care—without turning your cat’s neckwear into a science project. This walkthrough covers what arrives in the box, how to insert your AirTag, how to pair it in Apple’s Find My app, and how to fit the collar comfortably. Important from the start: Apple AirTag is not included with Pawture collars. You provide your own AirTag.

What you are working with

Pawture’s Personalized Corduroy AirTag Cat Collar pairs soft corduroy with a removable silicone AirTag holder and a removable bell. It is a non-breakaway design so the holder stays more secure during normal movement. That choice has trade-offs—read our breakaway vs non-breakaway guide if you are still deciding. Shop the collection at AirTag Cat Collars.

Personalization is engraved on the holder area: up to three lines, about 15 characters per line (product page confirms the current limit). Because engraving is permanent, measure and choose size before you order.

Before you start

  • An iPhone or iPad signed into iCloud with Find My available
  • Your own Apple AirTag (new or already owned)
  • The Pawture collar in the correct size—see the Size Guide and the product chart
  • A calm cat and a few minutes without rush

Android users can still use the physical collar for ID and style, but Apple’s Find My network features require Apple devices.

Step 1 — Confirm size and fit philosophy

Measure the neck with a soft tape and the two-finger rule. The AirTag holder adds a small amount of bulk; a correctly sized collar should sit flat without rotating heavily to one side. If you are between sizes, contact pawturepet@outlook.com with your measurement before engraving.

Step 2 — Insert the AirTag into the silicone holder

  1. Remove the silicone holder from the collar if it is designed to slide off, or open the holder pocket according to the piece you received.
  2. Press the AirTag into the holder until it sits flush. The Apple logo orientation is usually facing outward or as the holder cavity allows—what matters is a secure, rattle-free seat.
  3. Reattach the holder to the collar so it cannot slip during play.

Do not force rigid tools against the silicone; gentle finger pressure is enough. If the holder feels loose, reseat the AirTag fully before putting the collar on your cat.

Step 3 — Pair or reconnect in Find My

For a new AirTag:

  1. Open the Find My app on your iPhone.
  2. Bring the AirTag near the phone; follow the on-screen setup card, or tap Items → Add Item → AirTag.
  3. Name the item something clear (your cat’s name works well).
  4. Assign it to your Apple ID and complete Precision Finding calibration if prompted.

For an already paired AirTag moving to this collar, you usually only need to insert it—no re-pairing. If someone else previously owned the AirTag, remove it from their Apple ID first, then reset the AirTag per Apple’s instructions before pairing to yours.

Step 4 — Put the collar on and fine-tune

  1. Fasten the non-breakaway closure securely.
  2. Check the two-finger fit at the neck.
  3. Decide whether the bell stays on. Many cats prefer quiet; the bell is removable for a reason.
  4. Watch your cat walk and rest for a few minutes. The holder should not swing wildly or press into the throat.

Step 5 — Live with it thoughtfully

  • Charge nothing—the AirTag uses a replaceable battery; Apple notifies you in Find My when it runs low.
  • Keep the collar dry when possible; wipe the holder after rainy patio time.
  • Because this style is non-breakaway, supervise climbing and outdoor exploration, or remove the collar during unattended high-risk play.
  • Revisit fit after weight changes or seasonal coat shifts.

Privacy and peace of mind

Apple builds unwanted-tracker alerts into Find My for other people’s devices. Use the AirTag for your own pet, keep it paired to your account, and do not place trackers on animals or belongings that are not yours. Precision Finding and network location are conveniences—not a substitute for secure doors, microchips, and everyday care.

Engraving reminders

Engraved lines are permanent on the holder. Stick to clear essentials—name and a phone number work well within the character limits. Emoji and special symbols may not engrave cleanly; stick to standard letters and numbers unless the product page says otherwise.
